Xander Lee
Environmental Consultant
Xander is an Environmental Consultant with Mold Inspection Sciences, bringing a strong academic and research-driven background in environmental health to the team. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience from Oberlin College and later completed his Master of Public Health in Environmental Health Sciences from UCLA, where he also received the Leaders in Sustainability Certificate from the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability. Prior to joining MIS, Xander conducted research with SAJE LA’s Building Equity team, studying the health effects of indoor dampness and mold exposure in rental housing across Los Angeles County—work that deepened his commitment to improving indoor air quality and advancing environmental justice. Inspired by personal experiences supporting loved ones with chronic illnesses related to environmental exposure, Xander was drawn to MIS’s mission of using science to help people live healthier lives. He is energized by the company’s commitment to rigorous, standardized testing methods and its compassionate approach to guiding clients through complex indoor air quality concerns.

About Me
Hobbies
I'm a live music lover and hobbyist pianist and cellist and try to play one of them at least once a day. I love to ride bicycles at inadvisably high speeds and at odd hours of the day, and I volunteer as a mechanic and educator at a bike cooperative here in Los Angeles. I also love to cook and have dinner parties and volunteer in community kitchens. My signature dish is mapo tofu, which I can make vegetarian, but not without protestation.
What’s something you wish everyone knew about MIS?
I wish more people, particularly those with chronic illnesses potentially related to IAQ hazards knew about our medically relevant inspection and Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) specific programs, which can be extremely informative for people dealing with mold-related chronic illness and their clinical teams and care providers. Clients can then use our findings to inform remediation processes, which need to be much more strictly controlled where occupants with mold related illness are affected.
